The debut EP of Disgustingest is exactly that. This one man force Kendrick Lemke (ex Bodybox) put on a brutal showing. “Purging Suppuration” is a relentlessly heavy release. This quick ten minute experience makes you go back for more after 4 tracks. One of the best part about this debut EP is it doesn’t overstay its welcome and bores you to death.
Onto the music. The tracks are about 3 minutes or less which makes such an intense genre palpable. I’m excited to hear what Kendrick has on the horizon if he’ll assemble a live lineup or any new material on the horizon. The riffs are very meaty, groovy and not quick at all. There’s some quicker sections, but nothing too crazy. The vocals are super grotesque and very diverse. Lots of lows, mid range gutturals and occasional highs. It’s not repetitive vocally and is a big standout. The rhythms are solid on the bass and drums.
Production wise it’s good. Everything can be heard and is solid. I have no complaints but then again I live for disgusting music like this. I couldn’t help but think it has a nice nod to the late 90’s scene. The only thing missing was that classic muddy Devourment esque production. I absolutely love the sonic brutality and highly recommend this. The EP released June 10th and can be found online.
