NIAGARA FALLS, NY – The Americans hosted their local rivals the Niagara Ironbacks, and won their sixth consecutive game, the second time they’ve achieved this streak this season. The home squad allowed just two hits in a 5-0 victory. The Americans have now won all seven of the matchups between these two teams. The Ironbacks move to 2-14 on the season, while the Americans reach 12-6.

The Americans had a solid day at the plate, led by the play of Greydon Miller, Chris Guzaldo, Ethan Madison, and Dalton Harper. Miller hit three singles across his four at bats, driving in one run. Guzaldo batted 2-of-4, driving in one RBI. He was the only other American with more than one hit. Madison hit one single, and reached base on hit by pitches in two of his three other plate appearances. Harper hit an RBI double, the only extra base hit in the game, in his four at bats.

Just two pitchers appeared for the Americans, and pitched incredible games, finishing with a combined shutout. Nolan Jackson started the first 6.0 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five of his 22 batters faced. Joseph Czaja pitched the final 3.0 innings, allowing no hits, two walks, and two strikeouts on his 10 batters faced. Jackson and Czaja earned their first win and save, respectively.

Niagara-Canada had two players tally one hit, and two players walk. Alex Kean and Brock Grainger were the hitters, with Kean also stealing one base. Andrew Bishop and Connor Gaitens both walked. Gaitens stole one base in his baserunning opportunity.

The Ironbacks also threw just two pitchers in the contest. Ethan Wolf, the starting and losing pitcher, threw the first 5.0 innings. Wolf allowed five runs, striking out two. Cadyn Wilson, who played in three positions in the game, pitched the final 3.0 innings. Wilson allowed no runs, just one hit, and walked three.

The Americans won off a slow burn over the first four innings before neither team was able to score in the back-half of the game. In the 1st, the home team was started with a hit by pitch on Grant Moore. Moore stole second during the next at bat, his 22nd steal of the season, which is currently tied for league-best. Two batters later, Ethan Madison singled up the middle, allowing the speedy Moore to come home from 2nd.

In the next inning, the home club started with another leadoff hit by pitches, this time on Jack Satinoff. The next batter, Brady Boles, singled to center field, advancing Satinoff to 2nd. Greydon Miller started his day with a single through the left side, scoring Satinoff. Chris Guzaldo followed suit by singling through the right side, scoring Boles. A strikeout followed by a double play ended the inning with the Americans up 3-0. The 2nd was the only inning with more than one run.

For the third straight inning, the Americans leadoff batter reached base, this time Tommy Mathay on a single up the middle. Two at bats later, Mathay advanced to 2nd on a balk, and then 3rd on a flyout to right field. With two outs and a runner on 3rd, Dalton Harper doubled to left field, scoring Mathay and putting the Americans up 4-0.

The 4th inning started with a groundout before  back-to-back singles by Miller and Guzaldo, followed by a Liam Shaut walk, loaded the bases with one out. Moore batted next, hitting a sacrifice fly to right field that allowed Miller to score the 5th and final run of the game.
