Hello Metalheads! This is John back with yet another album review, this time from the band Byonoisegenerator. They just released their second album called Subnormal Dives on June 13th, 2025. This might be one of the most chaotic and interesting albums I’ve heard in a long time.
Clocking in at a little over twenty three minutes over ten tracks(with the bonus track included), Byonoisegenerator really manages to pack in a ton of material. Their genre is grind/jazz core, but I’d throw in some math core and experimental in the mix too, the rhythms are wild as all hell. The band has five members and manage to create one hell of a wall of sound, but then drop that on a whim when they switch to jazz. A huge distinction in this band is their saxophone player. He adds some noise and layers to their walls of sounds, but during the jazz breaks plays some crazy shit.
The jazz that they play is really good quality stuff too, not some slopped together crap. A good example of this is on the bonus track 5mgInspiredVibes which happens to be my favorite. There is this super chaotic and mathy section right before the jazz break. The break features this absolutely crazy saxophone solo over a super groove fueled beat. The transition is instant between death metal and jazz. The way that the drummer can go from blast beats to swing is just outrageous!
So overall Subnormal Dives gets a very easy 10/10 and in my top five in my album of the year list so far. As always don’t forget to stream and even buy this album if you love it as much as I do! Streaming and social links will be provided down below.
