
ALDEN – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of Kyi Tein Tun, 22, of Syracuse after an investigation by the Investigative Services Unit.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on June 21st, deputies were contacted by the Buffalo Police Department. BPD detectives informed deputies that a 26-year-old male arrived at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Tun accidently discharged an illegally possessed handgun inside a vehicle some time after he and the victim visited a business located at 12120 Westwood Rd. in Alden. The bullet struck the victim, who was also in the vehicle, underneath his right arm. After arriving at Mercy Hospital, he was transferred to ECMC for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Tun has been charged with:
- 2nd degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon
- 2nd degree Assault
- 1st degree Reckless Endangerment
- 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon
Tun is currently incarcerated at the Erie County Holding Center.
