Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another album review! Wrath of Belial just released their first album in eight years. The title of their second offering is Ember of Dead Empires and it was released in June 15, 2025.
This Danish ensemble really had a well crafted sound. They manage to make their brand of death metal melodic but also have a sense of brutality to it as well. The forward rolling ball of momentum in every track goes without any thoughts of stopping ever. The grooves they create are typically well balanced with a great riff and drums that match perfectly.
Off my first impression Atonement was and still is my favorite track on this album. It is a perfect encapsulation of this album fast, melodic and it never stops. Even during the “chorus” section it has a pulse pounding double bass drum keeping that feeling alive. The guitar solo starts off slow for a few seconds as a reprieve but reminds us to keep going!
Overall I’d give this album a solid 8/10. Wrath of Belial gave us a very good album. Ember of Dead Empires is an easy album to listen to and chew up.
