Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Jeremiah Henderson, 24, of Buffalo, was arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Peter J. Savage, III, on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).

It is alleged that on Monday, June 16, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Buffalo Police officers responded to the 200 block of Shirley Avenue for a shooting. The victim, a 33-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene. The defendant is accused of intentionally shooting the victim with an illegal gun, which resulted in his death.

Henderson is scheduled to return on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Henderson faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this ongoing investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Eugene T. Partridge, III, of the Homicide Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
