Opening Day is just five days away! Here is today’s batch of roster spotlights:
Paul Dulanto:
Dulanto is a 6’1”, 175 pound rising sophomore catcher from Stony Brook University’s Business Management program. Dulanto did not appear for the Seawolves in his freshman season, but had a very strong high school career. At Massapequa High School, Dulanto played four seasons of varsity baseball, serving as a captain in two of them. In his junior year, Dulanto batted .475 with eight home runs, and 45 RBIs, and then followed up by batting .450 with seven HRs and 33 RBIs as a senior. His play helped bring his high school three Nassau County Championship victories, along with one Long Island Championship victory. Along the way, Paul collected All-County and All-Long Island honors both in 2023 and 2024, as well as a Nassau County Conference most valuable position player, and an Axcess Baseball Catcher of the Year in his senior year. When not at Sal Maglie Stadium, Paul will look to enjoy the summer weather and play golf.
Derek Gesmondi:
Gesmondu is a 6’0”, 175 pound rising sophomore center fielder. He is an accounting major at Mount St. Mary’s University. Gesmondi did not appear for the Mountaineers this spring. In his senior year at The Prout School, Gesmondi batted .328 with 10 extra base hits in 20 games played. While Derek’s baseball skill is very real, don’t stare too long at his smile, or else you might realize that two of his front teeth cannot say the same.
Nick Paszt:
Paszt is a 6’1”, 190 pound catcher. He will enter his junior year in the fall, studying Psychology at Eastern Florida State College. This spring, Paszt appeared in 20 games for the Titans, holding a .734 OPS alongside five extra base hits, and 10 RBIs. Nick was destined for athleticism from an early age, as he was able to complete a full triathlon at the age of four.
Brady Toney:
Toney is a 6’3”, 215 pound right handed pitcher from Mount St. Mary’s University, where he majored in Sports Management. He has recently entered the NCAA transfer portal, and will look to use his play with the Americans to help him jump to a new program in the fall. He did not see playing time with the Mountaineers in his 2025 freshman season, but was able to record a 2.29 ERA during his senior year with Samuel W. Wolfson High School. Don’t let Brady’s position being pitcher stop you from thinking that he has a power swing, as he won the home run derby in Cooperstown as a youth.
