The Erie County Department of Environment and Planning is reminding the public about a free paint-only collection event that will be held on Saturday, June 7th in Williamsville.
The collection event is free, but pre-registration is required.
Registration can be completed online at www.erie.gov/recycling or by calling (716) 858-6800. Appointments are limited and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To help keep lines moving, residents are asked to arrive at their appointed time. The exact location will be given as part of the registration process.
The event is sponsored by GreenSheen, a company that makes eco-friendly, recycled paint. They will also accept stains, shellacs, lacquers, sealers, varnishes, and urethanes for recycling at this event.
PLEASE NOTE:
- No household hazardous waste, such as pesticides, will be collected at this event.
- Erie County will be announcing an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection, as well as additional Paint-Only collections, in the near future.
If you can’t attend a collection event, there are other options to recycle your paint. Beginning in 2019, New York State established the Postconsumer Paint Collection Program, an extended Producer Responsibly initiative requiring paint manufactures to collect, reuse, recycle and properly dispose of postconsumer paint.
