Hello Metalheads! This is John back with another early album review! This time I bring to your reading pleasure Techtalitarian by Eschaton, which is being released on May 30, 2025. This technical death metal masterpiece is absolutely ridiculous from start to finish.

This band is damn near a super group at this point and the quality of the music matches that. Mac Smith(Apogean) joined in for vocal duties with his wispy and demonic brutality. Christian Muenzner(Retromorphosis, Ex-Obscrua and Ex-Necrophagist) who is a tech-death god is absolutely shredding the lead guitar roll. Scott Bradley(Inanimate Existence) gives the band the low bass lines. Darren Cesca(Serpents of Gnosis, Goratory, and Pillory) remains on the drums and plays fast and technical with the best. The founder Josh Berry shreds the secondary guitar roll very well!

The musicianship on display at all times is absolutely wild and head spinning. The amount of listens this album will take to fully internalize and hear everything is going to be crazy. Even four listens in while writing this I’m still hearing and discovering details in every track I didn’t notice before. The way Eschaton deploys all of their guitar parts really is reminiscent of a Baroque style part writing. Each guitar(and bass) is almost a separate voice portraying something new. A large majority of the time they are all playing independently and it sounds great! I really like the orchestra/Keyboard parts that are used sparingly as accents, so the guitars are still crystal clear!

Blood of the People is the first track that Eschaton unveiled for our listening pleasure. It was a perfect way to get everyone stoked for this new album. It’s more of a straight ahead and brutal track as I feel the first half of the album is. It’s a pulse pounding and real heavy non-stop frenzy filled 5 minutes. Mac Smith really shines in his consistency and delivery in every piece of his vocals.

Econocracy is my personal favorite track off of this new album. It starts off with this ominous harpsichord and orchestral unsettling intro before breaking into an all out chaotic frenzy. It’s super technical, melodic and tight track. The groove that they manage to keep while playing the most ridiculous lines you can think of is amazing. That’s my favorite part about this band I think, just how they play these super crazy, impossible lines at all times but manage to make it “groovy.” It seems as though this is the track where they crank up the melodic aspects to a whole new level and show off for the rest of the album. It’s such a tasteful way to show all of their talents and how well they have mastered their instruments.

Techtalitarian is going to take some time to truly absorb everything that the band has on display. With that being said this is an EASY 10/10 in my thoughts and is going to be an instant tech-death classic. I really think that Eschaton has showed the death metal world exactly where the bar for greatness sits. As always don’t forget to stream and even buy this fantastic album.
