Opening Day for your Niagara Falls Americans is just 8 days away! Please join us for another round of player spotlights!
Carter Hall:
Hall is a 6’2”, 195 pound right handed pitcher from Niagara University. He is a rising sophomore enrolled in the Business program. In his freshman year, Hall saw playing time as both a batter and a pitcher. He pitched 4.2 innings, striking out four. At the plate, Hall recorded seven plate appearances, walking once and hitting an RBI single. Hall is good friends with fellow Purple Eagle and PGCBL West Division opponent Eddie Dolansky, who is a powerlifter. The friends are likely to flex their muscles and see whose team is stronger in the nine scheduled matchups between the Americans and Dolansky’s Jamestown Tarp Skunks.
Ian Huang:
Huang is a 5’10”, 175 pound middle infielder from Niagara University. In the fall, Huang will enter his sophomore year of the accounting program. For his freshman season with the Purple Eagles, Huang appeared in 10 games, starting seven of them. In his seven starts, Huang reached base in four of them, driving in the same number of runs. One place you will not find Ian, as at the the pool located just outside of Sal Maglie Stadium, as he still ash trouble swimming.
Carmen Panaro:
Panaro is a 5’11”, 180 pound rising sophomore outfielder from Niagara University. With the Purple Eagles, Panaro appeared as both a batter and a pitcher. At the plate, Panaro has strong vision, as he worked a walk in 11 of his 35 plate appearances. On the mound, Panaro pitched 2.1 innings, striking out two. Carmen’s baseball skill is not limited to his real life, as he has competed professionally playing MLB’s video game series, MLB The Show.
Robert Wegrzyn:
Wegrzyn is a 6’1”, 210 pound rising sophomore catcher from Le Moyne College, in the Business Management major. Wegrzyn appeared in 11 games as a freshman, but saw his best performance late in the season. He recorded a hit in two of his final three games, including a two-RBI single in his final freshman game. Despite being listed as a right-handed batter and thrower, Wegrzyn is not a righty in all of his athletic endeavors, as he plays hockey left-handed.
