Opening Day for the Americans is just 10 days away! Let’s take a look at the next batch of our player spotlights, closing out our returning class!
Gavyn Boyle:
Boyle is a 6’3”, 220 pound outfielder, and recent graduate of SUNY Niagara, where he received both a certificate and an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. While in Niagara, Boyle received the President’s Cup, which is bestowed upon a sophomore that has played an integral part in their team’s success, and is viewed as the most distinguished award a SUNY Niagara student-athlete can receive. Starting in the fall, Boyle plans to continue his athletic and academic careers with the University of Southern Indiana, an NCAA Division I school. On the field, Gavyn batted .281 with a .860 OPS and 24 RBIs in 31 games played last summer with the Americans. So far this spring with the Thunderwolves, Boyle has been batting .395, with eight home runs.
Greydon Miller:
Miller is a 6’5”, 209 pound rising senior first baseman and outfielder in Drury University’s Biology program. Last summer with the Americans, Greydon saw significant playing time as a first baseman, batting .287 and recording a .832 OPS. At Drury, Miller is batting .300 in his career and has provided clutch moments in his school’s conference playoff tournament. Not only does Greydon love baseball, but you may even catch him at the zoo, where he can see his favorite animal, panda bears.
Morgan Shanaman:
Shanaman is a 6’0“, 185 pound right handed pitcher that will soon enter his sophomore year at SUNY Niagara. In seven starts with the Americans last summer, Shanaman posted a 3.73 ERA and 30 strikeouts. With Niagara, Shanaman has earned a win in all four of his appearances, posting a 4.20 ERA and 16 strikeouts.
