Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that Nicholas X. Allen, 24, of Buffalo, was arraigned yesterday afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony), one count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, one count of Menacing in the Second Degree and one count of Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors).

It is alleged that on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Buffalo Police responded to the 200 block of Commonwealth Avenue for a reported stabbing. The defendant is accused of intentionally stabbing his sister multiple times with a knife while inside of their shared residence.

It is further alleged that after the attack on his sister, the defendant threatened another person inside of the home and intentionally caused property damage to a vehicle outside of the residence. When patrol officers arrived, the defendant allegedly ran into a neighboring backyard, but was quickly apprehended by police. The victim, a 17-year-old female, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where she died from injuries to her upper body.

It is also alleged that the defendant obstructed the administration of law while at a Buffalo Police station by attempting to prevent a police officer from performing an official function by means of physical force.

Allen is scheduled to return on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. for a pre-trial conference. He remains held without bail.

If convicted of the highest charge, Allen faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Justin H. Caldwell of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Rachel Schepart of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
