New Standard Elite never disappoints. They always sign the hottest bands in the brutal death metal and slam world. Half the time, they sign bands with members as young as high schoolers or pre teens. See: Anatomize, Anal Stabwound and Virologist. They’ve signed some nasty brutal/tech like Theurgy, but man oh man did this band ever kill it. Imperious Morality is another band on a long line of disgusting bands on said label. They dropped an absolute 3 song heater recently “Eon Of Ungodly Entities”. Holy hell is it ever ungodly. If you dig the old school, this is for you. Do you like your vocals lower with some occasional mids and highs? Do you like Disgorge and Suffocation esque batshit crazy guitar riffs? Do you like fast and also groovy sections in brutal death metal? I’m calling it now, this HAS to be my favorite EP of 2025 unless something magically dethrones it.
For a 14 minute runtime, one might get a little bored of 4+ minute songs. As previously stated, Imperious Morality changes speeds so much it entices you to keep repeating said EP. After a quick section, they find the precise moment to drop a disgusting slam in your face, The band doesn’t lean too heavy either way. After one maybe two sections tops, they’ll shift gears. It’s not monotonous and has a solid variety. “Eon Of Ungodly Entities” satisfied the guitarist in me with a plethora of pinch harmonics. The drumming is so precise and the vocalist has a handful of different gurgles akin to a young Matti Way or young Angel Ochoa.
This release is batshit brutal and has some technical quips on it too. Don’t sleep on this band’s immense amount of talent. This is a rare modern brutal death release that’s all killer and no filler. You can stream the release anywhere you please. Consider picking up merch or CD’s on the New Standard Elite website. It will help these small bands a ton, trust me on that one. I’ve done a few orders with the label and looks like I need to do another one.
