Celestial Scourge is back with their brutal death/tech style with their first album “Observers Of the Inevitable”. Their EP debuted in 2023 “Dimensions Unfurled”. What drew me into the band was they didn’t forget the death metal. Many bands in the technical death metal sub genres forget they’re a death metal band, and forget the heavy. Pack in the thin guitar tones, similar samples it’s a shred fest with no brutality. Celestial Scourge crushes that compliant of mine and has a lot of caveman riffs, along with some mind bending riffs as well. The Norwegians put out an impressive first album and will surely get lost in translation. We’re here to remind you to listen to the album it’s a visceral experience.
The guitar work is so good and the diverse vocal set compliments the music as a whole. Music aside, the production is pretty good. By far my favorite thing is the bass and i’m saying this as a guitarist. I love to hear audible bass. There’s some great bass lines and fills that get lost in the low end of mixes. And it’s very crisp. Kudos for that.
Celestial Scourge gets so heavy (like the end of “Assembling Deformities”) it’s almost slam like a few times throughout the album. This will please many metal heads, keep shouting this band’s name. The drumming is very groovy and gets crazy when it has to. It’s definitely the most overlooked album of 2025 so far. Give it a listen on every streaming platform NOW.
