JoAnn Fabrics, officially known as JOANN Inc., the nation’s category leader in sewing and fabrics with one of the largest arts and crafts offerings, announced in January that it has commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings.
The company filed a motion Wednesday in bankruptcy court seeking to shutter around 533 of its 800 U.S. locations. Five of those locations are right here in Western New York, including:
- 1551 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst NY, 14228
- 3540 Mckinley Pkwy, Blasdell NY, 14219
- 2429 Military Rd, Niagara Falls NY, 14304
- 2503B W State Street, Olean NY, 14760
- 4101 Transit Road Ste 1, Williamsville NY, 14221
When exactly these closures will take place and how many employees will be impacted is not yet known. Joann’s Wednesday motion seeks court permission to begin the process.
