The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.02, down three cents from last Monday. One year ago, the price was $3.17. The New York State average is $3.15, down one cent from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.49. AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports the following averages:
- Batavia – $3.24 (down 1 cent from last Monday)
- Buffalo – $3.16 (down 2 cents from last Monday)
- Rochester – $3.25 (down 1 cent from last Monday)
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has been less than a dime away from the $3 mark for over a month as the waffling decline has been agonizingly slow. The last time the national average was below $3 was May 11, 2021. According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand and total domestic gasoline stocks both rose slightly while gasoline production declined last week. As the average hovers at $3.02 today, AAA expects it could fall below $3 a gallon in the next few days.
When it comes to EV charging, the national and state averages for L2 commercial electricity remain steady. The national average for a kilowatt of electricity at an L2 commercial charging station continues to sit at 34 cents. An estimated 1.2 million AAA members live in households with one or more electric vehicles.
For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.51, down three cents from last Monday. The New York average is $3.86, down one cent from last Monday.
