NEWFANE – On Sunday, September 1st 2024 at approximately 0008 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a traffic complaint in the Town of Newfane. Upon receiving this complaint, Deputy W. Strehlow patrolled the area and located the involved vehicle.

After observing the vehicle operate in violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law, Deputy Strehlow initiated a traffic stop in the 3700 block of Coomer Road. Upon investigation, Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were conducted with the driver, which resulted in the arrest of Kristi L. McGrew, a 44-year-old female of the Town of Newfane. McGrew is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated – Leandra’s Law (Felony), Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Misdemeanor), Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle and several other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

McGrew was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility to await Centralized Arraignment proceedings. The 15-year-old passenger is safe with a parent, who responded to the scene. ###
