LOCKPORT — Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that an indictment was unsealed in Niagara County Court on April 2, 2024, charging Jalik George, 27 years old, of Niagara Falls, in a the shooting of Thomas Carter, 31 years old, also of Niagara Falls. The indictment is the culmination of an investigation by the Niagara Falls Police Department after receiving a call of shots fired at 19th and Ashland Ave on March 3, 2024.

George is charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The charges carry a possible maximum combined sentence of 50 years to life.

The defendant was returned to Niagara County Court on a fugitive warrant and was arraigned by Supreme Court Judge Mario Giacobbe. Giacobbe remanded the defendant to Niagara County Jail without the possibility of bail. A further court date was scheduled for April 16 in front of Judge Caroline Wojtaszak. 

A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
