Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 59-year-old Michael R. Jackson of Buffalo was arraigned on Saturday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray on the following offenses:
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (Class “A-I” felony)
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class “A-II” felony)
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class “B” felony)
- Four counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors)
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (unclassified misdemeanor under Vehicle & Traffic Law)
- Motor Vehicle Violation: Registration Suspended (unclassified misdemeanor under Vehicle & Traffic Law)
It is alleged that on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 2:09 p.m., the defendant was the subject of a traffic stop in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Brown Street in the City of Buffalo for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and without a valid driver’s license. The defendant was allegedly found in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine and a scale, which were submitted into evidence.
It is further alleged that investigators, while executing a search warrant at a residence on Cayuga Street in the City of Buffalo, recovered an additional quantity of suspected cocaine, packaging materials and cutting agents.
Jackson is scheduled to return on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.
DA Flynn commends the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force for their work in this investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Chief Ryan D. Haggerty of the Narcotics/Intelligence Bureau.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
