LOCKPORT — On January 12th, 2024 at 19:55 Hours, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call reporting a shoplifter detained by store employees at the Walmart located at 5735 South Transit Road in the Town of Lockport. Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies responded and took custody of the shoplifter, identified as 31-year-old Ziad S. Zabaneh of Niagara Falls, New York. Walmart’s Loss Prevention Personnel provided Deputies with documents issued in 2019, indicating that Zabaneh had been barred from entering any Walmart property in the future. The No Trespass Order had been issued at the time due to an incident of theft.

Subsequent to taking Zabaneh into custody this evening, Deputies located a loaded 9mm handgun on his person. Zabaneh was charged with Petit Larceny (class A Misdemeanor) along with Burglary in the Second Degree and Criminal Use of a Firearm in the Second Degree both of which are class C Felonies. Zabaneh was remanded to the Niagara County Jail pending his arraignment on the charges in CAP Court.
