Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) called for the resignation of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin today.

In a media release, Langworthy said, “Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin failed to disclose to the White House that he would be unable to fulfill his national security responsibilities, leaving both our troops and government officials in the dark as to who is in command at the Pentagon. Secretary Austin should resign immediately, as he has proven to be unfit for his position on multiple occasions, from this major breech to the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.”

Langworthy added that President Joe Biden “shares responsibility for this incident due to the alarming lack of accountability within his administration.”

Langworthy’s 23rd Congressional District of New York, includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties and parts of Erie County.
