NIAGARA FALLS — Niagara Falls Police Department officers were called to the 600 block of Seventh Street at approximately 1:15 p.m. for a report of a “sheep in a field,” according to a press release from NFPD.

“Officers arrived, but did not see the sheep, only heard it,” the release said. “The sheep was eventually found in a resident’s backyard. After attempting to capture the animal, the sheep was eventually contained by the NFPD animal control officer.”

Police say that it’s “unclear where the sheep came from,” but it was taken to the Lakeview Animal Sanctuary.

Investigation into the ownership of the sheep is currently ongoing.
