On November 25, 2023, SP Machias Troopers arrested Matthew P. Barrick, 40, of Olean, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (With a Child Passenger Less Than 16) – Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.
During a traffic stop on Interstate Route 86 in the town of Allegany following an investigation into reports of a vehicle operating erratically, Troopers observed Barrick exhibiting obvious signs of impairment and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an impaired condition. There were two children present in the vehicle. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Barrick was arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation confirmed him to be impaired by drugs.
Barrick was released with appearance tickets for Allegany Town Court, where he is due to appear in December.
