On October 14, 2023, SP Machias Troopers arrested Rita A. Walker, 55, of Machias, NY for Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Sale of Cannabis 3rd Degree: Sell to Person Under 21.
Troopers investigating a report of an adult providing marijuana to a minor at a residence on State Route 16 in the town of Machias determined Walker had indeed provided the child with marijuana on multiple occasions.
Walker was arrested and arraigned in Machias Town Court, where she was released on her own recognizance. She is due to reappear in that court at a later date.
