WHEATFIELD – On September 22nd 2023 at 2352 hours, Deputy Sikora engaged in a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 2700 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. An investigation led to the arrest of ROBERT J VANPELT, a 46-year-old male from Basom, NY.
He is charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated – Leandra’s Law (Felony), Driving While Intoxicated- 1 Prior Conviction within 10 years (Felony), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child 2nd (A Misdemeanor) Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 1st (Felony) and other Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. The children: ages 2 and 14 were released to family. Mr. Vanpelt was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility, awaiting Centralized Arraignment.
