MOOSIC, PA – The Buffalo Bisons were not able to hold onto their lead late in the game, allowing the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders to double up Buffalo 4-2 on Friday night at PNC Field.
Mitch White dominated over 5.1 innings in his 11th start of the season for the Herd. The right hander set a new career high with nine strikeouts, with included striking out the side in order in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre did not have their first base runner until two out in the bottom of the third inning with a walk to Wilmer Difo. White faced the minimum in three separate innings and was replaced by Matt Wisler with two runners on in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bisons jumped out in front of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre thanks to a Rafael Lantigua RBI double in the top of the third inning. Cameron Eden scored on Lantigua’s team-best 81st RBI of the season. Lantigua finished the night with a base hit and a walk in four plate appearances.
Orelvis Martinez doubled Buffalo’s lead to 2-0 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth. His 10th home run of the season with Buffalo came off of RailRiders starter Mitch Spence. Martinez has a combined 27 homers between Buffalo and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
The RailRiders were able to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to a pair of walks and a hit batter by Jimmy Burnette. Franchy Cordero cleared the bases with a three-run double off of Paul Fry to flip the score in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s favor, 3-2.
A lead-off solo home run by Jake Lamb in the bottom of the eighth inning doubled the RailRiders lead to 4-2. Aaron McGarity preserved the lead for his fourth save of the season, while Zac Houston was credited with his third win in relief.
The Bisons and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will meet for the fifth game of their six game series on Saturday afternoon. Andrew Bash will start for Buffalo for the 4:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
