WORCESTER, MA – The Buffalo Bisons were unable to match the power of the Worcester Red Sox offense on Saturday night as Buffalo fell 8-4 at Polar Park.

The WooSox didn’t waste any time getting on the board as Enmanuel Valdez hit a two-run home run to give Worchester a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.

The Herd didn’t let the Red Sox hold their two-run lead for long because Addison Barger made it a 2-1 game in the top of the third inning when he doubled to right field and scored Rafael Lantigua. This is Barger’s 27th RBI of the season. Buffalo didn’t stop there this inning as Tanner Morris hit a long double to right field, scoring Spencer Horwitz and Barger to give the Bisons a 3-2 lead.

Buffalo didn’t keep their lead for long as Worcester tied it up in the bottom of the third with a Valdez walk that scored Caleb Hamilton to tie the game at 3-3. The Red Sox took the lead this inning with a commanding grand slam by Wilyer Abreu, making it a 7-3 ballgame.

Worcester added an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Nick Sogard grounded into a force out that scored Niko Kavadas, 8-3.

Ernie Clement chipped away at the Red Sox lead in the top of the eighth inning when he made it an 8-4 game with his ninth home run of the season, a solo shot to left field.

Bisons relievers Yosver Zulueta, Jordan Romano, and Hayden Juenger combined for four innings pitched and they did not allow any earned runs against during this span. They also only let up four hits against in these four innings and threw only one walk.

The Bisons and the Red Sox will finish up their six-game set Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. RHP Mitch White gets the nod for the Bisons and LHP Rio Gomez will be on the mound for the opposing WooSox.
