WORCESTER, MA- The Buffalo Bisons used a strong start by Wes Parsons to win game one of a doubleheader 7-1 against the Worcester Red Sox, on their way to a split of the twin bill. The WooSox took the night cap with a 5-0 shutout win on Friday night at Polar Park.

Following three scoreless innings to start the game, the Bisons struck first in the fourth . With two men on, Orelvis Martinez launched a high fly ball over the center field wall for his third home run of the season. Ernie Clement and Addison Barger scored, giving the Herd a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Bobby Dalbec would put the Red Sox on the board with his 28th home run of the season, cutting the Bisons lead to 3-1.

Parsons proved to have a solid evening for Buffalo, going six innings in the start, allowing only four hits, one run, while tossing six strikeouts along the way. The righty was credited with his third straight win thanks to his efforts.

Buffalo would tack on more for good measure, as Ernie Clement singled on a line drive to left field with bases loaded in the seventh. Both Mason McCoy and Rafael Lantigua reached home, as the Herd extended their lead, 5-1.

In that same inning with bases still loaded, Martinez walked, advancing Spencer Horwitz home and upping the lead to 6-1. Tanner Morris would then record a sacrifice RBI to center, as Ernie Clement tagged up from third and scored, making it 7-1.

Nate Pearson finished the game for Buffalo, providing two strikeouts in an inning of relief.

In the end, Buffalo’s late game at bats were key, as the Herd went on to win game one of the doubleheader versus Worcester, 7-1. Seven different players for Buffalo recorded at least one hit throughout the game.

After a rainout on August 10th, the Bisons continued for game two of a doubleheader versus the Red Sox. Lefty Brandon Eisert got the nod for the Bisons as the team went with more of a bullpen approach.

Worcester found themselves on the board first this time in game two, thanks to a Ceddanne Rafaela homerun to right field that scored both Niko Kavadas and David Hamilton, giving the Red Sox an early 3-0 lead.

The Red Sox continued putting up runs, as later in the fourth inning Bradley Zimmer singled to shortstop, scoring Stephen Scott and extending their lead, 4-0.

In the bottom of the fifth, Wilyer Abreu hit the second home run of the game for Worcester, this time to center field, upping their lead to 5-0.

Ultimately, that proved to be enough for Worcester as they blanked the Bisons in the second game of the doubleheader, 5-0.

Despite the loss, Buffalo’s combined pitching effort including, Eisert, Paul Fry, Junior Fernandez, Zach Pop, and Rowan Wick put up 11 strikeouts over the duration of game two.

The Herd will continue their series versus Worcester Saturday afternoon, with Jimmy Robbins set to take the mound for a scheduled 4:05 first pitch.
