BUFFALO — One of WNY’s most beloved philanthropists, Russ Salvatore, is putting wheels on his generosity.

The restaurateur has purchased a delivery van for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo that will service all eight counties throughout WNY.  The Promaster 2500 High-roof is a working van which will allow  employees to stand up in the van thereby less back injuries with  bending and lifting heavy boxes of supplies like church candles.

Mr. Salvatore will be handing over the keys to Bishop Fisher at the Diocese on Tuesday morning, at which time Bishop Fisher will also be blessing the van.

According to a press release from the Diocese, “Safe and reliable transportation is so important to the Catholic Diocese, as needs are growing on a daily basis. This donation will help central operations support parishes near and far, as  well as Catholic affiliate organizations and other denominations  with necessary goods.”

“We very much appreciate Mr. Salvatore’s gift to us as we  continue to advance our mission. We simply could not do this  without his wonderful support” says Nancy Gugino, Executive  Director of The Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese  of Buffalo.
