Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that three defendants have been arraigned after a multi-agency drug trafficking investigation uncovered quantities of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl at three different locations.

Antoine D. Young, 39, of Amherst and Jhazzon C. Brown, 37, of Buffalo were arraigned this morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Samuel Davis on the following offenses:

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class “A-II” felonies)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class “B” felony)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony)
  • Two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors)

The defendants were the subject of an investigation by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and intelligence Unit. It is alleged that on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at approximately 8:57 a.m., members of the Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit and the DEA, executed a search warrant at Brown’s apartment on West Cleveland Drive in the City of Buffalo. Investigators found more than two ounces of suspected methamphetamine, more than four ounces of suspect cocaine, a loaded handgun, scales, packaging materials and cash inside of the residence.

Both defendants are scheduled to return on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. Young was held without bail. Bail was set for Brown at $50,000 cash or bond or release under supervision.

It is further alleged that on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at approximately 7:53 a.m., investigators conducted a traffic stop oh Wehrle Drive in the Town of Amherst after Young and his passenger, Jameca C. Johnson, drove away from their apartment. More than eight ounces of suspect cocaine was allegedly found on Young’s person. A scale and cash were also recovered and submitted into evidence.

It is also alleged that later the same morning, at approximately 8:16 a.m., a search warrant was executed at Young and Johnson’s apartment on Spring Meadow Drive in the Town of Amherst. Investigators allegedly found more than 1/8 ounce of suspect fentanyl, a quantity of suspect methamphetamine and a scale inside of the residence.

Young was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree (Class “A-I” felony), two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class “B” felonies), one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class “C” felony), two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and two counts of Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanor). Young is scheduled to be arraigned in Amherst Town Court tomorrow morning.

Jameca C. Johnson, 43, of Amherst, who was charged with the same offenses, was arraigned this morning before Amherst Town Court Justice Kara Buscaglia. She is scheduled to return on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. for a felony hearing. Johnson was held without bail.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
