NEWFANE – On July 19, 2023 at approximately 1119 hours an adult male was observed riding an off-road vehicle on the roadway in the Town of Newfane, in violation of the recently passed Niagara County Off-Road Vehicle Law. This individual has been the subject of several complaints regarding off-road operation in the area.

The off-road vehicle was towed and the owner of the ATV will have to follow the new procedure to release the machine from impound. Part of that new procedure is a $250 fee that is required before paying the tow charge. The male operating the ATV was also issued several Uniform Traffic Tickets in relation to the New York State Vehicle and Traffic sections that were being violated.

Since the passing of the Off-Road Vehicle Law, there has been other police agencies that have towed off-road vehicles in violation of the new Niagara County Law.

“This law was put in place to address flagrant violators that are causing issues on our roadways. We will continue to enforce this law with our partner agencies,” stated Sheriff Filicetti.
