Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 36-year-old Timothy A. Austin, also known as Khali A. Ali, of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio on an indictment charging him with one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).
It is alleged that on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Buffalo Police officers responded to a 911 call of a reported stabbing on the 400 block of Niagara Street. Police found the victim with a stab wound to his chest. The victim, 49-year-old Tremaine Mayfield, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he died from the injury. The defendant is accused of stabbing the victim.
Austin is scheduled to return on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. for a pre-trial conference. He continues to be held without bail.
If convicted of the charge, Austin faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Unit.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
