Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 21-year-old Nasir Jackson of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree (Class “B” violent felony).
The defendant admitted to recklessly engaging in conduct that caused the death of his girlfriend’s infant son. The crime occurred while the baby was under his care at a hotel room in the Town of Tonawanda. The victim, 7-month-old Ocean Reed, was unresponsive when he was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital where he later died from the injuries on Friday, December 10, 2021.
The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the child died from blunt force trauma to his head and neck.
Jackson faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. He remains without bail.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Ashley M. Morgan of the Felony Trials Bureau.
