BUFFALO, NY- The Buffalo Bisons defeated the St. Paul Saints 4-1 in the fourth game of a six-game series Friday night at Sahlen Field.

With bases loaded in both the top and bottom of the first inning, Bisons starter Zach Thompson and Saints Randy Dobrak were able to escape the inning to keep it scoreless.

The Herd were able to strike first in the third inning, as Tanner Morris hit a solo home run to center field, giving the Bisons a 1-0 lead.

Buffalo continued their hitting ways in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Wynton Bernard singled on a line drive to center, extending his hitting streak to five games and allowing Davis Schneider to score, upping the Bisons lead to 2-0.

It wouldn’t take long for the Saints to get on the board, as Kyle Garlick hit a solo homerun to right centerfield, narrowing the Bisons lead to 2-1.

Thompson’s outing proved to be efficient for Buffalo, pitching five innings, while also adding five strikeouts and allowing only one earned run in the process.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Rafael Lantigua hit a ground rule double that advanced Cameron Eden home, furthering the Bisons lead to 3-1.

It was the first triple play for the team since May 27, 2016 at Toledo.

Buffalo’s batting continued rolling in the bottom of the seventh, as Rob Brantly’s line drive single would bring Spencer Horwitz home, advancing the Bisons lead to 4-1.

A combined three strikeout and zero run relief pitching outing by Yosver Zulueta and Junior Fernandez was pivotal, as Buffalo and their 13 hits were able to hang on to win 4-1.

The Bisons will continue their series versus the Saints Saturday with a scheduled 6:05 p.m. start.
