Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 29-year-old Talyn D. Williams of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before Erie County Court Judge Shelia A. DiTullio to 25 years to life in prison.
On June 19, 2020, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the defendant was involved in an altercation with a female victim inside of his home on the 300 block of Doat Street in the City of Buffalo. After the incident with the first victim, the defendant intentionally stabbed the victim’s friend, another female, outside of the residence. The second victim, 28-year-old Allison Turner, died from her injuries at ECMC.
The defendant was initially charged with murder and arraigned in Buffalo City Court on June 20, 2020. At the arraignment, Buffalo City Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio issued a no-contact order of protection on behalf of the first victim. The defendant knowingly violated the order of protection twice by placing phone calls to the victim while incarcerated at the Erie County Holding Center.
On September 7, 2022, Williams was convicted of all counts in the indictment against him. Jurors found Williams guilty, as charged, of one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and two counts of Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree (Class “A” misdemeanors), rendering their decision after approximately 3 1/2 hours of deliberation following a four-day trial.
Williams was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on the murder charge. He received the maximum sentence of one year in jail on each criminal contempt charge, which will run concurrently to his sentence for the homicide conviction.
As part of his sentence today, Judge DiTullio issued a final order of protection on behalf of the surviving victim, which remains in effect until 2053.
DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work on the case.
The case was prosecuted by Chief Ashley M. Morgan of the Felony Trials Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Andres D. Ortiz of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
