The Buffalo Sabres fell behind in the first period and couldn’t overcome a pair of goals in the second, falling to the New Jersey Devils by a 6-2 decision at Prudential Center on the second night of a back-to-back. With the loss, the Sabres were eliminated from playoff contention. 

Jeff Skinner and Mattias Samuelsson each scored for Buffalo, who entered the game on a 7-1-1 run with wins in each of its last three games. Devon Levi started for the fifth-straight game and made 24 saves on 28 shots. 

Vitek Vanecek was in goal for New Jersey and made 36 saves. Tomas Tatar scored twice while Jesper Boqvist, Jonas Siegenthaler, Miles Wood and Jack Hughes also tallied.
