TOWN OF NIAGARA — A 19-year-old Niagara Falls man was charged this morning with driving while intoxicated, unlawful fleeing and several other misdemeanors and traffic violations after he was seen not stopping for a red light on Military Road.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, at 3:38 a.m., while on routine patrol in the Town of Niagara, Deputy J. Westmorland observed a vehicle fail to stop at the red light located at Military Road and Porter Packard. Upon attempting to initiate a Traffic Stop, the vehicle fled southbound onto the Interstate 190 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle pursuit continued onto Grand Island, exiting the Interstate and traveling through multiple residential streets and town parkways. The pursuit ended at a residence in the 300 block of Orchard Road where the operator fled on foot into the residence.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Vito R. Wojick, a 19-year-old-male from Niagara Falls, for Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated per se– above .08% (Misdemeanor), Unlawful Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd (A Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor) and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law charges. Wojick was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.
