Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 46-year-old Sean Q. Ingleman of Buffalo pleaded guilty this afternoon before Buffalo City Court Judge Barbara Johnson-Lee to one count of Attempted Robbery in the Third Degree (Class “E” felony).

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at approximately 4:29 p.m., the defendant attempted to forcibly steal cash from a convenience store on Main Street near West Winspear Avenue in the City of Buffalo by demanding that the store clerk give him money from the register. During the attempted robbery, the defendant made a reference to the shooting that occurred at Tops Friendly Markets on Jefferson Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The defendant also stole a beer during the incident.

The matter was transferred to Mental Health Court. Upon successful completion of the program, the defendant will be permitted to withdraw his guilty plea and enter a plea to a reduced charge of one count of Petit Larceny (Class “A” misdemeanor).

Ingleman remains released on his own recognizance as the charge is a non-qualifying offense for bail.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Briana R. D. Miller of the Felony Trials Bureau.
