On February 6, 2023, Bureau of Criminal Investigation out of SP Lockport arrested Thomas L. McDowell, 19 of Lockport, NY for Assault 1st degree (B Felony), Burglary 1st degree (B Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C Felony).
On February 5, 2023, at 3:58 P.M., Troopers out of SP Lockport responded to Birchwood Drive in the town of Lockport for a shooting. Investigation revealed that McDowell shot a 38-year-old male twice. The victim is in stable condition. McDowell suffered a knife wound during the incident and left before the Troopers arrived. McDowell was taken into custody by Niagara Falls Police Department after seeking medical treatment at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was later transferred to Erie County Medical Center and guarded by Troopers. Once McDowell was treated for the injury, Troopers arrested McDowell and processed him. The 9mm pistol was located as a result of the investigation. McDowell was transported to Niagara County Jail and will be arraigned February 6, 2023.
