In a series of tweets, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced today that the county will be creating a blizzard alert system in response to the December storm.

Poloncarz said the system will send notifications to “all phones, TVs, radios, and other devices to all in our county when a future storm is near.”

Additionally, the county will be rating winter storms on a 1-5 scale, similar to hurricane and tornado scales created by the National Weather Service.
