WHEATFIELD – At 0210 Hours, Deputy Battaglia observed a vehicle traveling south on Niagara Falls Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Deputy Battaglia attempted to pull the vehicle over, which started a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit went from Niagara Falls Boulevard, north on Ward Road, east on Lockport Road before ending on Mapleton Road. Another Niagara County Sheriff’s patrol was able to successfully deploy spike strips on Lockport Road causing the suspect vehicle’s tires to deflate, ending the pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle, Darina M. Shaw, 36 years of age, of the Town of Wilson was charged with Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in the 3rd degree (A Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Unclassified Misdemeanor), and several Vehicle and Traffic Infractions.

Suspected narcotics were also recovered from Darina Shaw. Charges are pending upon analysis from the Niagara County Forensic Laboratory.

Darina Shaw was issued appearance tickets and released.
