WHEATFIELD – On January 11, 2023 at 0010 hours, Deputy Ross attempted to initiate a Traffic Stop on River Road in the Town of Wheatfield for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. As he approached the vehicle roadside, the operator fled southbound.

A vehicle pursuit ensued throughout numerous jurisdictions within Niagara and northern Erie County. Ultimately, as the vehicle returned northbound on River Road into the Town of Wheatfield, Deputy Battaglia was able to successfully deploy spike strips causing both front tires to deflate as it continued northbound for a short distance. The operator then fled his vehicle on foot into the woods. A foot chase followed and Deputies, along with City of North Tonawanda Officers quickly apprehended the male.

John J. Cuillo, a 45 year-old-male from the Town of Wheatfield is charged with Driving while Ability Impaired by Drugs (Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd (Misdemeanor), Reckless Endangerment 2nd (A Misdemeanor), Unlawful Fleeing an Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd (A Misdemeanor), Resisting Arrest (A Misdemeanor), Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd (A Misdemeanor) Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor) and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. He was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility, awaiting Centralized Arraignment.
