The weather outside is still frightful. So officials in Western New York are advising people to stay inside. And definitely don’t try to drive anywhere.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said a driving ban remains in place while road crews try to clear the roads of snow.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office has also issued a statement this morning nothing that the previously issued travel ban is still in effect until further notice.

“The southern end of Niagara County continues to experience significant weather conditions. Motorists who have not heeded the travel ban have become stranded in their vehicles. Please stay off the roadways so first responders can work to assist those motorists,” the statement said.

The City of Lockport also issued a statement re-upping its own driving ban. “The travel ban in the City of Lockport is still in effect until otherwise stated. Please stay home and stay safe.”
