On December 16, 2022, Troopers out of SP Fredonia arrested Alexander R. Santiago, 47, of Dunkirk, NY for offenses including: two separate counts of Burglary 3rd degree, Petit Larceny and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree on three separate shoplifting incidents.

Troopers were investigating three separate shoplifting incidents at TJ Maxx located on Vineyard Drive in the town of Dunkirk.  Troopers identified Santiago as the suspect in all three incidents using their surveillance footage. Santiago repeatedly left the store without paying for the items, which had a total value of $740.00.

Troopers located Santiago on E. Courtney Street in the city of Dunkirk, where he attempted to flee the area but was quickly apprehended and brought into custody.  Santiago was transported to SP Fredonia for processing.

Since Santiago had been previously given a ‘Trespass Notice’ from TJ Maxx from another unrelated shoplifting incident, Santiago was ultimately charged with 2 separate counts of Burglary 3rd degree.  He was also charged with Petit Larceny and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd degree.

With 49 prior arrests and 18 counts of failure to appear in court, Santiago was transported to Chatauqua County Jail for arraignment. Santiago was immediately released on his own recognizance.
