LOCKPORT — On Sunday, February 27, 2022 at approximately 0006 hours, EMS crews from Wrights Corners Fire Company and Mercy Ambulance responded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility for an unresponsive incarcerated individual following an apparent suicide.
Life saving measures were immediately taken by corrections personnel and the jail medical staff at the facility, however the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is continuing in conjunction with the New York State Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation as required. The New York State Commission of Correction was also notified. The name of the incarcerated individual is not being released at this time. No further information will be released at this time.
