On January 26, 2022, SP Amity Troopers arrested James Qwinten, 22, of Alfred for Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the first degree and Welfare Fraud in the fourth degree.

SP Amity Troopers investigating a welfare case from the Allegany County Department of Social Services, determined that Owinten had failed to report the public assistance he was receiving when applying for additional benefits. Owinten was arrested and processed at SP Amity.

Owinten was issued an appearance ticket for the town of Belmont court, where he is to appear in February 2022.
