On August 23rd, 2020, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Taija Pettit, 30, of Bemus Point, for two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Harassment 2nd Degree, Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest.

The Troopers and Chautauqua County Deputies responded to a residence in Bemus Point for a report of a domestic incident. Investigation revealed that Pettit struck the minor victim approximately four times and then dragged her upstairs by her ear, all in the presence of a younger child. When a third party attempted to interfere and stop Pettit from abusing the child, she struck him multiple times. When responding officers attempted to place Pettit into custody, she became disorderly and attempted to flee the scene but was placed under arrest after a brief struggle.

Pettit was transported to SP Jamestown, processed for the above charges, and then transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.
