On June 25th, 2020, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested James Smith, 53, of Ravenna, Ohio, for Criminal Possession of a Firearm.
While the Troopers were conducting a routine commercial vehicle inspection at the Ellery Rest Area, Smith was found to be in possession of a black semiautomatic pistol without a New York State Pistol Permit. Smith was placed under arrest, processed an issued an appearance ticket. Smith is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellery Court on a later date to answer the charge.
