STAFF REPORTS

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have selected the contract of Buffalo Bisons shortstop Bo Bichette  for his Major League debut.
Bichette, 21, appeared in 56 games with the Bisons this season, hitting .275 with 16 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBI. Along with 15 stolen bases in only 20 attempts, Bichette was on-base via walk or base hit in 46 of his 56 games, including an 11-game on-base streak from June 27(2) – July 7 (18-48, .375). He made 51 starts at the shortstop for the Herd while appearing in five ball games as the designated hitter.
Bichette suffered a hand injury on April 22 that cost him nearly two months of the season. Since returning to the lineup on June 13, the Blue Jays top prospect has hit .284 with a .936 OPS.
The shortstop will now rejoin young stars 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and 2B Cavan Biggio in Toronto. The trio were part of the 2017 Florida State League Champion Dunedin Blue Jays roster as well as the 2018 Eastern League Champion New Hampshire Fisher Cats squad (Double-A). Bichette, Guerrero Jr. and Biggio also played together with the Bisons in April prior to Guerrero Jr.’s promotion.
