JAVA — A 27-year-old Arcade man was charged Thursday morning with reckless endangerment and DWI after New York State Police say he struck a Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office vehicle.

Police say Troopers were dispatched to a report of a three-car motor vehicle accident with injuries on ST-98. During the accident investigation, it was determined Tyler J. Malik was southbound on ST-98, when he failed to observe a Wyoming County Sheriff vehicle, which was occupied by a Deputy parked on the west shoulder, with all emergency lights activated during a traffic stop.   Malik rear ended the Wyoming County Deputy Sheriff vehicle, causing minor injuries to the Deputy.  The Wyoming County Deputy was transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw, NY via ambulance and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Malik was arrested and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Java court on a later date.

The Troopers were also assisted on scene by the Wyoming County Sheriff Dept., Arcade Police Dept., Arcade Ambulance and the North Java Fire Dept.
